Russian embassy says UK must be held accountable for arms supplies to Ukraine

It is reported that Ukrainian forces used 155 mm artillery shipped by NATO to regularly shell civilian facilities in Donetsk over the past days

LONDON, June 14. /TASS/. The Russian embassy in London on Tuesday released a statement saying the UK government must bear the responsibility for supplies of arms to Ukraine that are used by Kiev to strike civilian facilities in Donbass.

"We have repeatedly called upon the British Government to exercise caution and to respect its own export control standards when supplying arms to Ukraine. These calls have fallen on deaf ears. The latest events show it is time for the UK to assume full responsibility for its short-sighted policy," the statement said.

The embassy said Ukrainian forces used 155 mm artillery shipped by NATO to regularly shell civilian facilities in Donetsk over the past days.

"It is therefore clear that such assaults on civilians are only possible due to Western encouragement and Western military supplies to Kiev, in which the United Kingdom claims a leading role," according to the statement. "Deliberate targeting and shelling of civilian objects is a war crime."

Donets came under extensive shelling on Monday from multiple launch rockets systems and cannon artillery of the 155 mm caliber that are in service in NATO countries. One shell hit a maternity hospital, setting off a fire. Donetsk Mayor Alexey Kulemzin said Ukrainian forces shelled the city for six hours. Shelling resumed on Tuesday, wounding a few people.
